HAZEL E. THACKER STAUNTON, VA Hazel Elizabeth (Kite) Thacker, 96, wife of F. Paul Thacker, Sr., of 910 Preston Drive, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born April 29, 1916, in Shenandoah a daughter of the late Burtus and Minnie Lee (Comer) Kite. She was educated in Page County and Cleveland, Ohio. In 1936 she married Paul Louderback who died in 1940. On April 4, 1944, she married F. Paul Thacker, Sr. She and her husband resided in Bridgewater, Alexandria, and most recently in Staunton. She worked at B-Neys Department Store and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for many years, during which time she taught Sunday School class, she served as circle Bible Teacher for 35 years, and was the first female Elder elected in the Presbyterian Church in Staunton. In addition to her first husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Southard; and two sisters. Family members include a son, Frank Thacker of Staunton; a son-in-law, Oliver Southard; three grandchildren, Douglas Thacker, Bryan Southard, and Teresa Southard; a great grandson, Josh; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lester LaPrade. The family will receive friends following the service.
