Helen Martin Fitzgerald

HELEN M. FITZGERALD STAUNTON, VA Helen (Martin) Fitzgerald, 91, widow of Melville H. Fitzgerald, of Oakmont Apartments, died Saturday evening, October 15, 2011 in Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center, Fishersville. She was born March 26, 1920, in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Josephine (Bean) Martin. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Napolillo; and a sister, Edna Cain. Family members include two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two nieces, Dixie Kieffer and Crystal Bruffy. She was the last member of her immediate family. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert A. Edwards. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandson, David Cacciapaglia, Jimmy Myers, Ronnie Craig, and Ernest Nuckols. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 at the funeral home.
