Herman Earl Cook

HERMAN E. COOK STAUNTON, VA Herman Earl Cook, 88, husband of Mary Cook, of Staunton, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born June 11, 1925, in Augusta County, a son of the late Harry and Anna (Schaffer) Cook. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed by DuPont with 36 ½ years of service. He was a member of Jollivue United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Wayne Swisher of Greenville and Sherry Cook of Staunton; five grandchildren, Ryan Miller, Megan Miller, Justin Swisher, Laura Swisher, Caitlyn Payne; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Lester Cook; two sisters, May Jones and Christine Cook. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Janet Knott. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Miller, Wayne Swisher, Justin Swisher, John Siron, Ed Hays, Jr. Rowe, and J.W. Little. Friends may view an hour before the service.
