Herman W. Shanks

HERMAN W. SHANKS  STAUNTON, VA… Herman W. Shanks went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Mr. Shanks was born and raised in Bath County and moved to Staunton in 1947.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Shanks retired from Columbia Gas Company in Staunton after forty-three years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lotchie Shanks; two sisters; and four brothers. Survivors are two sons, H. L. (Sonny) Shanks of Tennessee and Gary Shanks of Afton, VA; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Clenton of Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church in Fishersville, where he was a member, by Pastor Heath Spivey. Interment will be in Augusta Memorial Park.  Henry Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
