HIRAM M. KNOPP Staunton, Virginia - Hiram Morris Knopp, 87, widower of Jenny Elder (White) Knopp, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. He was born December 14, 1923 in Staunton, a son of the late George Henry and Bessie (Black) Knopp. A respected businessman and builder, Mr. Knopp was president of Knopp Bros., Inc for over 50 years. His cherished wife of 66 years preceded him in death on October 23, 2009. Family includes five daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Lee Bares of Staunton, Julia and John Wikswo of Brentwood, TN, Brenda and Larry Rankin of Staunton, Susan and Terry Davis of Doswell, and Sally and Richard Williams of Radford; eleven grandchildren, Brian and Jarod Davis, Alicia Rankin Brodt, Amy Rankin Washburn, Ryan Rankin, Emily Rankin McNeill, Cameron, Marshall and Conner Williams, and Sarah and Matthew Wikswo; seven great grandchildren, Lindsey, Christy and Drew Davis, Jonathan Washburn, Landon McNeill, Rafe Brodt and Austin Davis; two brothers, Philip and Daniel Knopp and sister, Anna Ruth Rathburn, all of Staunton. Mr. Knopp was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Mark, James and Simon Knopp; and three sisters, Rebecca Phillippe, Elizabeth Rodgers and Rhoda Mayes. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and other times at the family home, 216 Overlook Road.
