STAUNTON, VA… Helen Geneva (Craun) Beard, 91, widow of Oser B. Beard, of Staunton, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at her residence. She was born September 11, 1924, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Eugene S. Craun Sr. and Nettie F. (Sinnett) Craun. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Beard was employed at Genesco as a seamstress. She was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, where she very involved and held several related positions. She was also a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society where she enjoyed cross stitching replicas of the P. Buckley Moss paintings. Family members include a son, Ernest Eugene Botkin of Mount Solon; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy B. and Brian Fendrich of Gastonia, NC; a brother, Robert Craun; four grandchildren, Mark Botkin of Mt. Sydney, Lisa Leonard of Haymarket, Bruce Fendrich of Winder, GA and David Fendrich of Morenci, AZ; three great grandsons; four great granddaughters; and two very dear friends, Doris Shifflett, who was like a daughter and Jeff Sheets, who was like a grandson. In addition to her husband of 62 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Craun Jr. and Lacy Craun; and a sister, Frances Shifflett. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Harold “Pete” Campbell. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 in the funeral home.
