Henry Lee Wood, 70, of 409 Hendren Avenue, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Accordius Health at Waynesboro to be with his Heavenly Mother.

Mr. Wood was born March 18, 1950, in Staunton, a son of the late Joe Anderson Isaac Wood Sr., and Jean (Greaver) Wood Scherbek.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Wayne Wood of Alexandria and Joe Anderson Isaac Wood, Jr., also of Alexandria; a special uncle, Mr. Vernon Greaver of Alexandria and parental aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Franklin Kurtz of Staunton.

Mr. Wood graduated from Robert E. Lee High School of Staunton and Blue Ridge Community College of Weyers Cave. He served in the United States Air Force with a tour in South Vietnam and was discharged honorable. Prior to retiring from Hardees in Staunton, Mr. Wood worked at various jobs in the area.

Mr. Wood was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church of Staunton. Mr. Wood served as Grand Knight for Council 670 and was a member of the Legion of Mary. Mr. Wood was an avid knitter, crocheter and loved to cross-stitch. Mr. Wood spent most of his time with his beloved pets.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Franklin Wood and his wife, Crystal of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Bonnie Kay (Wood) Baggett and her husband, Jesse Carroll Baggett, Sr. of Bronson Florida; also four nephews, Steven Baggett of Bronson, Florida, Jessee Baggett, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Joseph Wood of Stuarts Draft and Isaac Wood of Stuarts Draft; a number of cousins; a number of great nieces and nephews; two very close friends, Kimberley Dawn Cabbell of Staunton and Jacob Paul Mehalick of Staunton; and a god-child, Stephanie Dunker of Deerfield.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday January 5, 2021 at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Council 670, at 118 North New Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
