Irene Louise (Harding) Thompson

Irene L. Thompson Lodi – Irene Louise (Harding) Thompson, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Virginia surrounded by the Shenandoah Mountains on February 14th, 2018.  Irene was born in 1930 in Two Rivers, WI, daughter of Freeman and Ada Augusta (Hindt) Harding.  Irene worked for the State Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection until her retirement in 1993.  Irene was a passionate supporter of the arts, cherished working as a forensics coach and judge, and assisting with Lodi area theater productions.  In retirement she lived for the journey; residing in NY, CO, OR, FL and VA.  She relished traveling the American West, Alaska and Europe, and reveled in extended and adventurous holiday excursions with her adoring granddaughters.   Irene is survived by her son, Jack (Rosa), Washington, DC, and her beloved granddaughters, Olivia and Hannah.  She is preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Marie, and her husband Perry Laverne.  A memorial at her much-adored Lake Michigan will occur later this year.   Condolences may be sent to the family at www.henryfuneralhome.net .  A lovely and dedicated mother, grandmother, companion and friend, her selflessness, grounded ethics based on merit, hard work and Midwestern values will long be admired and revered.  As you often let us know, we now we say to you, “I’m glad I married you.”  Until we meet again, may your coffee always be hot.  Profound gratitude extended to Sharry and Kathy for compassion beyond measure, and all their little animal friends who made Grandma’s house a home – thank you.  Peaceful journeys Grandma!
