Isabelle Robertson Hutson, 88, widow of Robert Eugene Hutson, of Staunton died Monday, May 11, 2020 at Shenandoah Hospice House.

She was born August 24, 1931 in Staunton, daughter of Emmett L and Margaret Elizabeth (Landrum) Robertson.

Family members include two sons Robert E Hutson Jr., and late wife Hyun-Ju Hutson; Gary W. Hutson and wife Linda; daughter Elizabeth A and Husband Danny L Allen. Nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Hutson Windham and husband Adam; Terry Hutson Kirby and husband Beau; Matthew Hutson; Zachary Hutson; Jacob Hutson; Brook Miller Galford and boyfriend Stephen Stacy; Justin Kevin Miller and wife Sara Miller; Mark Allen and wife Danielle; Lance Allen and wife Leslie. Sixteen great-grandchildren: Ava and Lexi Windham; Evan and Ian Kirby; Emma and Avery Hutson; Cecilia Hutson; Shannon Anderson and Ella Galford; Grant and Josalyn Miller; Tommy and Paige Allen; Aaron, Kaitlyn, and Emily McMillion.

She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Robertson Fitzgerald; Joyce Robertson Zinkhan; Nancy Robertson Thompson; Sandra Robertson Galloday; brothers Emmett L Robertson Jr.; Grover Robertson; and Charles Robertson.

She loved her family, her church (Christ United Methodist), flowers and birds. Throughout her life she was heavily involved many aspects of the church, including managing and cooking for breakfasts and suppers, delivering meals on wheels, or hosting teas. Her church was her second family. She was leader of the Eskew Bates Mission Group and a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved going to dances with her husband and friends.

Her kindness and toughness were beyond compare. She was fond of the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: "A woman is like a tea bag - you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water."

A private memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14 and will be delivered by Pastor Jesse Moffitt of Christ United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church of Staunton or to the Shenandoah Hospice House.
