JAMES  FRANK CLEMMER STAUNTON, VA...Frank Clemmer, 87, widower of Frances (Lessley) Clemmer, of 60 Clemmer Knoll Lane, died peacefully Sunday, October 2, 2016, at his residence. He was born December 30, 1928, in Newport (Augusta County), a son of the late John Cyrus and Annie Adair (Clemmer) Clemmer.             In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Rodney Clemmer; and four sisters, Virginia Baber, Annabelle Barker, Ann Melton, and Jackie Corso.Family members include a son, Dennis Miller and wife, Jill, of Brandon, Florida; a daughter, Dee Snow and husband, Wade, of Staunton; a sister, Scottie Rhodes, of Staunton; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a beloved special friend of 10 years, Helen Cash.In his early years Frank worked on the family farm. Following 4 years of service in the U.S. Army, he worked as a painter, milkman, grocer, and meat cutter/manager at the Augusta Co-op .  In 1974 he founded The Meating Place which he owned and operated for 28 years.He had a passion for horses and horseback riding.  He was very proud of his horse, Trigger, and all the tricks he had taught him.  He might be remembered best for his kindness, loyalty, and honesty to all who knew him – particularly to little children who visited his store, for whom he always had a free candy and a smile to give. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Sullivan. A private family graveside service will follow. Active pallbearers will be John Wood, Greg Peduto, James Snow, Josh Snow, Simon Willard, Emerson Willard, Fred Beverage, and Eddie Meyerhoeffer. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 7, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ride With Pride (a therapeutic riding program working with special needs children and adults) mailed to: RWP, PO Box 1203, Staunton, Va. 24402.
