J. Harrell Shuler

GREENVILLE, VA…Jackie Harrell Shuler, 72, of Greenville, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Augusta Health. He was born November 24, 1944 in Macon County, North Carolina, a son of the late Don Lee and Virgie (Long) Shuler. Mr. Shuler was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corp. having served in Vietnam as an E5 Sergeant. He served from January 11, 1966 until January 10, 1968. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Staunton Lime as a heavy equipment operator.   Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Melisa Shuler; five brothers, Marcelle, Weaver, Charles, Jerry, and Dwight Shuler, all of Franklin, NC; three sisters, Sue Peek of Johnson City, TN, Shirley Peek and Donna Holden, both of Franklin, NC; a sister-in-law, Geneva Shuler of Franklin, NC; and two grandchildren, Madison and Kassidy Shuler. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David Ball. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tammy Chandler, Danny Cork, William Vanhook, Gary Cash, Matt Johnson, Timmy Johnson, and Kenneth Greer. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 in the funeral home. At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing. Memorials may be made to local emergency services.
