STAUNTON, VA Jack Lewis Armentrout, 86, widower of Wilma J. (Kershner) Armentrout, passed on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Augusta Health. He was born on October 3, 1927 in Falling Springs, the son of the late James William and Emma S. Armentrout. Mr. Armentrout was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in WWII aboard the battleship, USS North Carolina. He retired from Westinghouse/McQuay in 1991. After retirement, he enjoyed small engine repair, was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting. He was truly a "Jack-of-all-Trades". He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be deeply missed. Survivors include four children, Jeanette A. Young and her husband, John, of Richmond, Kenneth L. Armentrout and his wife, Brenda, Donna A. Ergenbright, E. Lynne Morris and her husband, Danny; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Lori, Kasi, Dylan, Hayley, Stacey, Jonathan, and Jennifer; five great grandchildren; a sister, Lula E. Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jack L. Armentrout, Jr.; three brothers, Bobby W., Jessie A., and David L. Armentrout; two sisters, Janutia Hoke and Lucille Sims; and a son-in-law, Benny Ergenbright. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Russell Heinrich. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be friends and nephews attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends at other times at the home of Kenneth Armentrout, 117 Fraser Lane, Staunton, VA, and also at the home of Lynne Morris, 1185 Eidson Creek Road, Staunton, VA.
