JAMES ARMSTRONG STAUNTON, VA James "Willie" Armstrong, 51, husband of Victoria (Smiley) Armstrong, of Staunton, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born November 19, 1962, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a son of Kern W. and Polly (Stephenson) Armstrong. Willie was a Territorial Sales Manager employed by P.M.I. Lubricants out of Roanoke who were dedicated and supportive of him throughout his tenure there. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, especially spring gobbler season. He also looked forward to spring and fall trips to Illinois where he spent time with his friends at Twin Hills Hunt Club. His unique personality was endearing to all who knew and loved him. From morning coffee at the Shell station with friends to clients he worked with, he was a positive part of everyone's day. In addition to his wife of 30 years, family members include a daughter, Aubree Anne Armstrong and Jim Moore of Stuarts Draft; two brothers and two sisters, Jackie Wimer of Churchville, Cindy and Ricky Eberhard of Stuarts Draft, Kern, Jr. and Jennifer Armstrong of Stuarts Draft, and John and Cherie Armstrong of Greenville; his mother-in-law, Virginia Smiley; and a number of beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Woodland Union Church Cemetery in Millboro by the Rev. Merle Dodson. A memorial celebration and reception will follow at 5 p.m. at the Middlebrook Community Center. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Armstrong, Kyle Armstrong, Christian Armstrong, Dave Bourne, Larry Shaw, Mike Diehl, and James Wells. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kennedy at the UVA Heart Center, Dr. El Sayed, Dr. Reed, and Melissa Otoya, R.N. at the Emily Couric Cancer Center at UVA, and Dr. Marsh. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
