James Garner Corbin

SGT. JAMES G. CORBIN   STAUNTON, VA… Sgt. James Garner “Jimmy” Corbin, 83, widower of Edna (Hite) Corbin, of Staunton, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Augusta Health. He was born May 29, 1934 in Augusta County, a son of the late Guy and Julia (Whitmore) Corbin. Sgt. Corbin retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was a successful and avid gardener who was always generous with his produce. Family members include a niece and caregiver, Donna Clark and husband, James “Leroy” Clark of Mint Spring; a sister, Linda Riley of Lexington; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death a sister, Peggy Corbin Riley. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetey.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
