James Howard Hipes

James Howard Hipes, 68, of Steeles Tavern, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1947, in West Virginia, a son of the late Lawrence Edward and Louise (Holcomb) Hipes. Mr. Hipes was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Family members include four sons, Thomas Edward Hipes and girlfriend, Heather Bailey, of Louisa, James Howard Hipes Jr. of Staunton, William Joseph Hipes of Crozet, and Christopher Wayne Hipes and girlfriend, Bridgett Barnett of Esmont; a daughter, Sarah May Nicole Hipes- Dibley of New York; a sister, Patsy Hipes Reese of Steeles Tavern; 22 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Jean Hipes, three brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
