Staunton, VA…   Mr. James Wallace Lyle, 90, widower of Dorothy “Phyllis” (Moneymaker) Lyle, of East Avenue, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his residence. He was born on March 13, 1927 in Goshen, a son of the late Weldon Osborne and Lula Agnes (Wilkerson) Lyle. Mr. Lyle was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. Prior to retirement he was employed by the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind as a carpenter. He was a member of Westview United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Wriston of Stuarts Draft; four grandchildren, Katrina McCauley, Kenneth Michael Baugh, Shawn Stogdale, and Candace Wriston, seven great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Baugh. In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Baugh; four brothers; William, Marvin, Jim and Red Lyle; three sisters, Coleen Roadcap, Idelle Bryant, and Fern Jones; and a grandson, James Christopher Wriston. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by Pastor Frank Hall. Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
