JAMES E. SANDERSON RICHMOND, VA… James Earl Sanderson, 94, widower of Anne Jeanette (Padgett) Sanderson, of Richmond, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Beaufont Towers, Richmond. He was born February 13, 1922 in Bedford County, a son of the late Charlie Atlee and Emma (DeWitt) Sanderson. Mr. Sanderson was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in WWII. He trained at The Institute of Pittsburgh and was employed by Westinghouse prior to retirement. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of which he and his wife were charter members. Family members include two daughters, Cathy Sanderson Dickens of Richmond and Claire Sanderson Kersh of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Blair, Cameron, and Bailey Kersh and Christopher, Victoria, and Ariana Dickens; two sisters, Inez Parks of Big Island and Emma Lou Lyon of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Kersh; four brothers, Robert Cecil, William Watkins, Joseph Benjamin, and Charlie Edward Sanderson; and one sister, Frances Aycock. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Temple D. Myers. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisonburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 224 Taylor Street, Staunton, VA 24401. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
