James Lewis Stogdale

JAMES L. STOGDALE CHURCHVILLE, VA… James Lewis Stogdale, 71, husband of Linda Shephard Stogdale, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home. Jim was born on May 8, 1946, a son of Aldon Glasgow and Ruth Morrison Stogdale.  He attended Robert E. Lee High School and East Tennessee State University.  He was a Navy veteran.Jim was an avid model train enthusiast, lover of motorcycle rides through the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and loved playing bluegrass music on his guitar. He delighted many in the last twenty years as he played the role of Santa Claus for many civic and family gatherings. Jim never knew a stranger, and was a friend to all with whom he came in contact.  He retired from the Staunton City Sheriff’s Office in 2011.  Surviving in addition to his wife is a sister, Carol S. Lown of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Angela Sue Johnson and her husband Jason of Bristol, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Abigail Leigh and Sophie Elizabeth Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews.  A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John P.
