JANE D. HIRST STAUNTON, VA Jane Ellen Desper Hirst, 86, widow of Joseph W. Hirst, of 904 Grove Lane, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born July 25, 1926, in Staunton a daughter of the late James H. and Blanche (Potter) Desper. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Hirst was employed by Food Lion, where she worked until she was 81 years old. Family members include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda May and Ralph Cannady of Staunton and Cathy Jean and Mike Schoeller of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Toby A. Jones, Michael J. Cannady, Robyn R. Stewart, Kelly M. Kravitz, and Jon Schoeller; and eleven great grandchildren, Cody Jacobs, Tristan Rankin, Riley Stewart, Hunter McDaniel, Cassidy McDaniel, Josiah Kravitz, Taylor Hawkins, Skylar Johnson, Lucas Cannady, Jon Kravitz, and Hayley Stewart. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Darlene Robertson. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mike Schoeller, Ralph Cannady, Toby Jones, Joe Cannady, Cody Jacobs, and Hunter McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Tristan Rankin, Jon Kravitz, Phil Kravitz, and Dave Stewart. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the residence and from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the funeral home.
