Jane Gregory Ruch

Jane Gregory Ruch of Fishersville passed away at the age of 64 on Friday April 27, 2018 at Augusta Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael W. Ruch. Jane was the daughter of Cliff and Virginia Gregory, and the daughter-in-law of William and Lois Ruch. She was preceded in death by her father Cliff Gregory and her father-in-law William Ruch.   She leaves behind a wonderful family as her legacy. Jane and Michael had two amazing children, Carrie R. Holsinger and husband Travis, and Joseph I. Ruch and wife Chrissy. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Ethan Holsinger, Lucas Holsinger, Jack Holsinger, Jacob Holsinger, Noah Law, Talulah Ruch, Kellen Ruch, Charlie Ruch and Alex Ruch. She also embraced six additional grandchildren Alyssa, Brooklyn, Thomas, Christopher, Michael, and Jacob. Jane is also survived by two brothers, Dennis E. Gregory and fiancé Melinda Ballard, and Matthew W. Gregory and wife Janice, along with nieces Alexis Gregory and Sarah Gregory, and nephew Chris Gregory. Jane also leaves behind her special “sister,” Betsy Gregory. Jane retired from the Staunton City Schools after 30 years of teaching Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade at Bessie Weller Elementary School. After retiring, her favorite activities were watching her grandchildren grow, teaching her grandchildren in what we lovingly called “Grandma School,” and crafting. Jane battled juvenile diabetes for 58 of her 64 years. To say she was a person of strength would not begin to describe her resolve. She overcame more physical challenges and hurdles than could be imagined and still found a way to keep moving forward. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Christ Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Visitation and remembrances will be held the hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the American Diabetes Association or to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
