Janet Marie Raynes

JANET L. RAINES STAUNTON, VA Janet Marie (Liskey) Raines, 90, widow of Ralph Joseph Raines, formerly of Grottoes, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born May 31, 1921 in Harrisonburg, a daughter of the late Dewey Clyde, Sr., and Sarah Frances (Spitzer) Liskey. Mrs. Raines was a member of Grottoes Church of the Brethren, where she was formerly active in the church with music and teaching. She was a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Clyde Liskey, Jr. and Garland Lee Liskey, Sr.; and two sisters Ruby Catherine Bryant and Margaret Spitzer Liskey. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Frances Lee (Raynes) and Fred Arlington Wilkerson, Sr., of Verona; a grandson, Fred Arlington Wilkerson, Jr., and his wife, Stephanie; a sister-in-law, Margaret Raynes Coleman; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Grottoes Church of the Brethren by the Revs. Scott L. Duffey and John Neff. Burial will follow in Port Republic Cemetery.
