Janet (Beverage) Swisher

JANET B. SWISHER  WAYNESBORO, VA… Janet (Beverage) Swisher of Waynesboro passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018. She was born October 5, 1931 in Bath County, the daughter of Jacob E. and Arbelia (Beverage) Beverage. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Greenlee Swisher in 1973. Also preceding her are three brothers, Jim, Junior and Gene and three sisters, Grace Harouff, Nora Lee, and Mona Gay. She is survived by one son, Larry and wife, Joan; three grandsons, Matthew, Daniel and David; one great grandson, Wyatt; and one great granddaughter, Gracelynn. She also “grandmothered” children that were dear to her heart namely, Michael, John and Joshua. She was a faithful member of the Fishersville United Methodist Church, but she never forgot her heritage of the “Little Church in Wildwood” Burnsville United Methodist Church. She was employed at GE Waynesboro and GE/Fanuc in Charlottesville for more than 30 years until retirement.  She had many and varied interests of which was both vegetable and flower gardening. She was an active member of the Sarah Seaton Garden Club. She especially took pleasure in her travels both foreign and in the states.  Her greatest pleasure was time spent with family and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 in Fishersville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles F. Bates. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Swisher, David Swisher, Leon Harouff, Henry Curd, Dave Matheny, and Russell Coyner. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Women’s Circle and her Sunday school class. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fishersville United Methodist Church, P.O.
