JANETH B. SAXMAN STAUNTON, VA Janeth (Brown) Saxman, 71, wife of William M. Saxman, Jr., of Staunton died Monday, January 14, 2013, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. She was born February 14, 1941, in Cumberland, Maryland, daughter of the late Leo P. and Kathryn (Wilcox) Brown. Mrs. Saxman attended Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mary Baldwin College, Class of 2011. Prior to retirement, she was Office Manager of Shenandoah Corporation. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was active in the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Washington and Lee University, the Augusta Garden Club, Augusta Free Clinic, and the International Bottled Water Association. She loved her grandchildren, gardening, traveling, and the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzles. In addition to her husband, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, The Honorable Christopher B. Saxman and Michele F. Saxman; two daughters, Katherine Saxman of Stuarts Draft and Elizabeth Saxman Orgain and her husband, Commander Albert M. Orgain, V of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, David W. Brown of Greensboro, North Carolina; a sister, Martha Lisor of Gilbert, Arizona; six grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Saxman, William Mechling Saxman, III, Eleanor Marie Saxman, John Thomas More Saxman, Peter Bland Orgain, and John Stuart Orgain; two sisters-in-law, Ann Saxman of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mildred Brown of Pasadena, California; a brother-in-law, Russell Lisor of Gilbert, Arizona; Peg Desko of Annandale and Sue and Bert Edwards of Ocean View, Delaware; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Philip D. Brown. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, in Covenant Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John Peterson with a reception to follow. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highland County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, VA 24465. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family extends their heartfelt thanks and love to the employees of Shenandoah Corporation.
