RAPHINE, VA Janie Marie (Lawhorn) Rowe, 90, of 559 Lofton Road passed away peacefully on March 15, 2015, in Fishersville, Virginia surrounded by her family. Mrs. Rowe was born on October 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Houston Theodore and Minnie Bell (Fitzgerald) Campbell Lawhorn. One June 22, 1946 she married Joseph Franklin Rowe and they shared a blessed union of 47 years before his passing on October 6, 1993. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church and was retired from Hollister. Mrs. Rowe was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in the Lofton area, and continued living there her entire life, raising her five children, and hosting family gatherings for her always growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those were times that will always be remembered and cherished by her family. She also had a love for flowers and gardening, a passion that was passed down to many in her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Freda R. Hays; brothers, Junior Lawhorn, Theodore Lawhorn, Bill Lawhorn, and Raymond Campbell; sisters, Mary Myrtle and Jean Moran. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include sons, Roger L. Rowe, Larry J. (Pete) Rowe and wife Alicia; daughters, Reda R. Hendricks, Shirley R. Wolfe and husband Wayne; son-in-law, Roger D. Hays; special friend, Frances Rowe; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Henry Funeral and other times at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church by Pastor David Taylor and Pastor Fred Salmons. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Vernon Rowe, Brian Hays, Kevin Wolfe, David Rowe, Joseph Rowe and Aaron Rowe. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice's Shenandoah House for their compassion and excellent care given to Mrs. Rowe. Memorials may be made to the Shenandoah House, 78 Medical Center Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939 or Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church, 4709 Cold Springs Road, Raphine, VA 24472.
