JANITA T. JOHNSON STAUNTON, VA Janita Jackie (Tinsley) Johnson, 65, widow of Richard F. Johnson, of 15 Plaza Drive, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, in Shenandaoh House, Fishersville. She was born September 28, 1946, in Washington, DC, a daughter of the late James R. and Nellie V. (Ramsey) Tinsley. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Johnson was employed by the Donut Shop. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Portia "Peachie" Brickey. Family members include two daughters, Vickie Johnson-Rankin of Stuarts Draft and Sandy J. Rowicki of Staunton; a step-son, Steve Johnson of Salem; a sister, Elizabeth Schwallenberg of Maryland; four grandchildren, Nicole "Nikki" D. Rankin, Shianne M. Rankin, Madison Davis, and Leah Davis; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bob Hall, of Staunton. The family extends their special thanks to a dear niece and her husband, Kim and Whit Morgan, of Georgia. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Chuck Balsamo and Pastor Temple D. Myers. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Madison Davis, Mark Crummett, Timmy Fridley, David T. Johnson, Jr., Steve Hargrove, and Zack Hoskinson. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Carpenter, Bob Hall, and her many other special friends and family members. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011, in the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Sandy, and following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Shenandoah House, Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
