Jean Stratton (Anderson) Nicewander

JEAN A. NICEWANDER  FISHERSVILLE, VA… Jean Stratton (Anderson) Nicewander, 96, widow of Calvin Edward Nicewander, of Fishersville, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born April 6, 1921, in Staunton, a daughter of the late Edwin R. and May (Stratton) Anderson. She was employed by Dupont with 10 years of service and was also employed by Staunton City Schools as a substitute teacher for many years. Jean was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. Family members include a daughter, Barbara Snyder of Churchville and two grandchildren, Molly Snyder of Arlington and Zachary Snyder of Virginia Beach. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Anderson; a granddaughter, Katherine Marie Snyder; and a son-in-law, Rodney Snyder.  A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 in Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. Won Un. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 953, Staunton, VA 24402.
