JEAN W. MYERS STAUNTON, VA Jean Frances (Wilberger) Myers, 93, of Stuarts Draft Christian Home died Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. Born October 12, 1918 in Weyers Cave, the daughter of the late Minor and Zula Landes Wilberger. On May 1, 1936, she married Russell L.Myers who preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Myers was a member of Warm Springs Presbyterian Church. Throughout her life she was a homemaker, worked at Smart and Thrifty, a number of years for Dr. Hassett, The Carol House and was a buyer for Chez Marie. She was also blessed to spend many winters in Florida with her son-in-law and daughter and dear friend Ferby Hunley. She made many friends residing in Staunton, Florida, Bacova, and Stuarts Draft. In later years she enjoyed reading, pets, wildlife, and flowers. She is survived by her son, Russell "Jerry" Myers and wife, Brenda, of Staunton; grandchildren, Kent Keller and wife, Staci, Jonathan Keller and wife, Melissa, of Staunton and Shelly Plecker and husband, Ricky, of Millboro; great grandchildren, Meghan, Travis, and Emily Plecker, Heather Thompson, Caleb, Noah, and Olivia Keller; a brother, John Wilberger and wife, Carrie of Staunton; a sister, Billie Ann Spitler of Staunton; a brother-in-law, Gerald Myers of Port Republic; sisters-in-law, Eunice Dean, Nancy Wright, Thelma and Geneva Craun of Harrisonburg; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Ferby Hunley and family. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Thompson and husband, Frank Thompson; infant daughter, Shelby Jean Myers; a son-in-law, Buddy Whitesell; a grandson, Robbie Thompson; brothers, Russell and Frank Wilberger; and sisters, Charlotte Link and Hazel Dean. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Pastor William Schmeissing. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Frankie Broce, Gerald Myers, Tim Hunley, Kent Keller, Jonathan Keller, and Ricky Plecker. There will be no public viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Shenandoah House (Hospice), 111 North Campus Lane, Fishersville or to Staunton Alliance Church, Building Fund, 560 New Hope Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
