JESSIE K. EARHART GREENVILLE, VIRGINIA. Jessie Marie (Kesterson) Earhart, 89, widow of Roy Lee Earhart, 66 Hawpe Road, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Augusta Health. She was born November 29, 1924 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Roy Robert and Lona Mae Gilmer Kesterson. Mrs. Earhart was a graduate of Stuarts Draft High School and Staunton School of Cosmetology. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a mail carrier for The News Virginian for many years and Western State Hospital. She also farmed her entire life, continuing to operate her beloved Green Pastures Farm in Greenville, following Roy's death. Mrs. Earhart, a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, was also a member of the Presbyterian Women's Church Circle. At one time in her life, she was involved with the Greenville-Riverheads Ruritan Club. Jessie will be remembered for being a fastidious homemaker. She had a penchant for a spotless home. She enjoyed cooking fabulous meals, baking cookies, pies, and cakes. She would can grape jelly and other treats from her garden, always giving it to family and friends. Family members include a sister, Helen Potter of Fishersville; nieces, Reda Earhart Robertson of Reading, PA, whom she raised as a daughter. Other nieces include: Betty P. Allen of Boones Mill, VA; Brenda Tankesley (Joe) of Raphine, VA; Linda Huffman (Wayne) of Greenville, VA; Pam Clemmer (Larry) McKinley, VA' Teresa Rosemeier (Tom) of Churchville, VA; Judy Freifeld of Winston-Sale, NC; Lisa France (Joseph) of Roanoke, VA, and Sherry Lugar (Mike) of Fincastle, VA. Other surviving nephews include Benny (Gloria) Potter of Greenville, VA; Erle (May) Potter of Midlothian, VA; Stevie Earhart of Verona, VA: Mark (Cathi) Earhart of Staunton, VA; Joe Earhart, Jr. of Staunton, VA; Jeffrey (Allison) Earhart of Stuarts Draft, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home Sunday, October 26, 2014. Funeral service is scheduled at 3:00 PM, Monday afternoon, October 27, 2014 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Greenville, Virginia, conducted by the Rev. J. David Shearer. Burial will precede the service at 2:00 PM with interment in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Bethel Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Riverheads Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 39, Mint Spring, VA 24463.
