    JO ANN CONNER

    June 1, 1947 - March 17, 2012

    JOANN B. CONNER STAUNTON, VA JoAnn (Botkin) Conner, 64, wife of Raymond Thomas Conner, Jr., of 324 Ann Street, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born June 1, 1947, in Staunton a daughter of Clara (Hemp) Botkin and the late Calvin Joseph Botkin. Mrs. Conner was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Brandts School of Business. She was employed by Henry Funeral Home. She was a life member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Helping Hands Circle, teacher and member of the Faith Bible Sunday school class, and previous member of the Chancel Choir. In addition to her husband, to whom she married on December 5, 1970, and mother, family members include a daughter, Amy Lynn (Conner) Sumner of Staunton; two grandchildren, Zachary Anderson Sumner and Madyson Grace Sumner; sisters-in-law, Janice Johnson, Betty Natale, Beverly Mish, Helen Brooks and her husband, Garland, and Patricia Coffey and her husband, Landon; brothers-in-law, John Conner, Carrol Conner, and Paul Conner; sisters of her heart, Mary Ramsey and husband, Junior, of Stuarts Draft and Nickie Rutledge and husband, John, of Staunton, and Judy Sams; special cousins, Doris Ailer of Staunton, Susan Mullins of Buckingham, and Cindy Good of Mt. Sidney; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Joseph Botkin who died September 1969. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Jamie McClanahan, J. Paul Rowe, Jeff Allen, Wade Munford, and Russell Heinrich. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John Rutledge, Junior Ramsey, James Beam, Danny Mullins, John Conner, Zachary Sumner, Mark Clarke, and Charlie Rimel. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in the funeral home and others times at 307 Greenwood Road, Staunton.
