JOHN “KNICK” GOINS   STAUNTON, VA… John “Knick” Goins, 71, husband of Linda (Berry) Goins, of Staunton, passed into eternal life Monday, May 21, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1946 in Mullens, West Virginia, a son of the late Merit Anderson and Elaine (Sisk) Goins. Mr. Goins was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed by E. I. DuPont with 37 years of service. Knick was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good yard sale. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. In addition to his wife of 45 years, family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Keri Goins-Joseph and Jason Joseph and Kristin and Matt Gaffney; a grandson, Tilghman Merritt Gaffney, or “T-Man” as Knick called him, he was the apple of Knick’s eye; two sisters, Mona Wingate and Barbara McClanahan; three sisters-in-law, Katherine Beam and her husband, Jim, Sherri Berry, and Nancy Curry and her wife, Debbie Hargus; a brother-in-law, Gary Botkin; step-brother-in-law, Tommy Curry; step-sister-in-law, Ginger Leitch; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Bill Wingate, Bruce McClanahan, and Roy Berry; and a sister-in-law, Judy Botkin. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 in Spring Hill Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Todd Lilley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Curry, John Rusmisel, Jim Beam, Phil Mullins, and John Pastors. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. The family would like to thank the whole staff of Hospice of the Shenandoah and especially Tracey, Elizabeth, and Marsha. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
