STAUNTON, VA John Lewis Hoover, Jr., 72 , husband of Brenda C. Hoover of 1116 Preston Drive, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Augusta Health. He was born August 14, 1940, in Washington, DC, a son of the late John L, Sr., and Helen Louise (Donavan) Hoover. Mr. Hoover was a veteran who served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to retirement, Mr. Hoover was employed by C & P Telephone Company with 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He also served as a past president of Shenandoah Valley Kiwanis Club. In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, John L. III and Lucy Hoover of Warsaw; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly A. and Roger Robertson of Swoope and Kelly M. Hoover of Richmond; a brother, Martin J. Hoover of Mentor, Ohio; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann R. and Richard Wright of Fredericksburg and Christy Steiner of Fairfax; five grandchildren, Drew Robertson and his wife, Stephanie, Katy Robertson, John Paul Hoover, William Hoover, and Jordan Hoover; two great grandchildren, Natalie Robertson and Blake Robertson; three step-children, Beverly Foust-Bardin and her husband, Scott, Tony Heflin and his wife, Jackie, Tommy Heflin and his wife, Sheri; eight step-grandchildren, Josh Heflin, Cherish Boyd, Justin Heflin, Ridge Foust, Samatha Heflin Ozdal and her husband, Erdem, Chase Foust, Thomas Heflin, Natalie Heflin; and a step-great grandchild, Mason Boyd. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Ann "Dee" Hoover, who passed away February 28, 1997. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father Joseph Wamala. Burial will be private in Greenhill Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Henry Funeral Home.
