JOHN H. JOHNSON STAUNTON, VA John "Jack" Henry Johnson, 84, husband of Annie Ozellia (Bradley) Johnson of 15 E. Peabody Street, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born September 19, 1929, in Middlebrook, a son of the late Clarence and Bessie Elizabeth (Wood) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement in 2010, Mr. Johnson was employed by the Staunton Fire Department for more than 40 years and worked for Charlie's Tools, Staunton Electric, and Tommy Harlow's Exxon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He also had many friends and family that will miss him dearly. He loved watching wrestling on t.v. and was an animal lover. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 43 years, family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and William Noble, Mary Elizabeth and Garry Simmons; three step-daughters, Anna Bell and husband, Charles Leon Miller, Janet and husband, William Smith, Jr., and Dorothy and husband, Gary Durham; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hansford "Junior" and Pearl Johnson and David, Sr., and Helen Jane Johnson; three sisters, Irene Cromer, Viola Henson, and Carrie Ann Johnson; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Mary Sue Chaplain. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Chaplain Greg Czerniak. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by Augusta-Staunton VFW Post #2216. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2013, in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
