John Warren Maddox, Jr.

JOHN W. MADDOX, JR. STAUNTON, VA…             John Warren Maddox, Jr., 89, widower of Elizabeth (Chandler) Maddox, of Staunton, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at his residence.             He was born May 12, 1929, in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late John W., Sr., and Leslie (Cash) Maddox.             Prior to retirement, Mr. Maddox was employed by Smith’s Transfer and transported water for 30 years for Maddox Water Service.             He was a member of the Teamsters Union.             He was a member of Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren where he had served as treasurer.             In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Randolph Maddox and a sister, Audrey Sandy.             Family members include three sons, Michael Brent Maddox, Phillip Neil Maddox, and Bryan Keith Maddox, all of Staunton; a brother, Alfred “Buddy” Maddox of Staunton; a sister, Linda Faye Davis of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, Michael Maddox, Corey Maddox, Brandon Maddox, Jeremy Maddox, and Nathan Maddox; and 10 great grandchildren.             A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 in Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Grant Simmons. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.             The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home.            Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
