JOHN M. OTT STAUNTON, VA… John McClure “Jake” Ott, 91, widower of Betty Glenn Glover Ott of 1410 A North Augusta Street, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at The Legacy at North Augusta. He was born October 30, 1926, in Augusta County, a son of the late David Junkin, Sr., and Carrye Love Strickler Ott. Mr. Ott was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Smith’s Transfer with 38 years of service. Following retirement, he worked for Sears and Wal-Mart. He was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church and Beverley Manor Ruritan Club. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail Ott and Richard T. Gregory of Charlottesville and Emily Ott of Richmond; and two grandchildren, John W. O. Gregory and wife, Hayley, of Arlington and Anne Russell O. Gregory of Charlottesville. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018, in New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Philip Sieck.
