JOHN J. PUMPHREY, JR. MIDDLEBROOK, VA John Jacob Pumphrey, Jr., 80, of 626 Dutch Hollow Road, Middlebrook, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 14 Gra-Mar Circle, Stuarts Draft. He was born February 1, 1932, in Weyers Cave, a son of the late John Jacob, Sr., and Eva Cathleen (Craun) Pumphrey. Mr. Pumphrey was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Henrico County in Data Processing. He was a member of the Mint Spring Ruritan Club and Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Family members include four sisters, Loretta P. Kennan of Silver Springs, MD, Mary Lee Brown and Margaret Elaine Pumphrey, both of Richmond, and Carolyn C. Miller of Staunton; and very special friends, Kenny Davis and Brenda Brooks of Stuarts Draft. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. JoAnn Bunn. Burial will follow in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Marvin Brown, Jr., Donald Brown, Curtis M. Brown, Bernard R. Brown, Lacey Buchanan, and Eddie Shifflett. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Davis and Dallas Hemp. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home.
