Joseph L Wallace, Jr

STAUNTON, VA… Joseph Lee Wallace, Jr., 90, widower of Sarah Leigh (Nichols) Wallace, of 172 Vista Lane, died Monday, January 29, 2018, in King’s Daughters’ Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born April 20, 1927, in Norfolk, a son of the late Joseph Lee, Sr., and Annie Elizabeth (Sadler) Wallace. He grew up in Newport News, Virginia.  Mr. Wallace was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.  He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College.  He was an insurance agent for over 35 years and retired from Staunton Insurance Agency, where he was a partner.            He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years and held numerous other positions.            He supported the Boy Scouts of America and was involved with other community groups.In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, James W. Wallace; a daughter, Deborah Jo Wallace; and a brother, Herman Pollard.            Family members include a daughter, Linda McDearmon of Staunton; two grandchildren, C.A. “Chad” McDearmon, Jr. and his wife, Shelly, of Stuarts Draft and Forrest Lee Wallace of Lynchburg; three great-grandchildren, Bre’ana Riddle and her husband, Shawn, Courtney Reid (Jake Adler) and Alayna Reid and four great-great-grandchildren, Spencer, Bristol, Trinity Riddle and Lily Adler.         There will be no public viewing.            Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, P.O.
