JOSEPH WILLIAMS SWOOPE, VA Joseph Williams, 87, widower of Dr. Emma Lee (Jackson) Williams, of 1481 Buffalo Gap Highway, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at his residence. He was born March 14, 1927, in Staunton, a son of the late William Henry and Mary (Tindull) Williams. Mr. Williams was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the USO during World War II in Germany. Prior to retirement, he was a professional tile setter in Springfield, Massachusetts. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, William "Billy" Williams, Calvin Williams, John T. Williams, and Langston T. Williams, Sr.; and three sisters, Beatrice Williams, Ida Williams, and Helen Jones. Family members include two sisters, Josephine Williams Jones of Staunton and Mary Alice Williams of New York; numerous nieces and nephews; a special niece, Candace L. Jones and two special nephews, Langston T. Williams, Jr. and wife, Linda D. Williams, and John T. Williams, Jr., all of Virginia. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Michael Turner.
