JOSEPHINE W. JONES STAUNTON, VA… Josephine Williams Jones, 90, widow of William E. Jones, of 1745 Springhill Road, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her residence. She was born March 14, 1927 in Staunton, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Tindull) Williams. Josephine was one of the first female barbers in town and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a collector, loved bingo, and had a passion for gardening. Family members include three daughters, Ester Thorne of Ruckersville, Terry Parker of Harrisonburg, and Candace Jones of Staunton; a sister, Mary Alice Williams of New York; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, William K. Jones and Aaron J. Jones; five brothers; and three sisters. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 in Staunton National Cemetery by the Rev. Michael Turner. Attire will be casual, per her request. The family will receive friends anytime at her residence. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her grandson, James K. Caul, for his assistance in her care.
