JOSEPHINE C. SHIFLETT GROTTOES, VA Josephine Cline Shiflett passed away on October 1, 2015. Born November 29, 1930, near New Hope, she was the daughter of Rufus R. and Mildred Kerr Cline. She was preceded in death on April 21, 2008, by her husband of 57 years, Weldon Armstrong Shiflett; her parents, and her grandmother, Ida Long Cline who raised her. Survivors include a son, Larry F. Shiflett, Fort Defiance; daughters, Martha S. English, Mechanicsville, and Elizabeth A. Shiflett, Mt. Sidney, Daughter-in-law, Susie F. Shiflett, Son-in-law, John R. English. Brother Charles M. Cline, Sr. of Mt Sidney; Sister Emma Jean Shiflett, Grottoes, half-sister Janet Weller, McGaheysville, half-brother, Martin L. Cline, Bridgewater. Surviving also are five grandchildren. Laura S. Chapman (Steve), Richmond; Aaron A. Shiflett, Ft. Collins, CO; Chuck W. English (Larri), Ferrum; Ashley S. Summers (Eddie), Ft. Defiance; Evan E. Shiflett, Ft. Defiance. One great-grandchild, Hunter Armstrong English. She, along with her husband and son, were partners in River Bend Farm. She was a life-long member of New Hope United Methodist Church, New Hope, where she had served as organist. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 11, at 2 PM at Middle River Church Cemetery, near New Hope. Donations may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, New Hope, VA 24469. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
