JOYCE A. ELLINGER STAUNTON, VA Joyce entered this world on April 14, 1947 at the Hinkle Home in New Market, VA to parents, the late Royce L. and Betty Lloyd Painter. Joyce has joined her husband William "Bill" Ellinger and daughter Ann Marie Sprouse in heaven on Friday, August 1, 2014. She leaves behind a brother Royce "Sonnie" Painter, Jr. of Stuarts Draft; three sisters, Donna (Bud) Wright of Shenandoah, Leola (Kerry) Kothbauer of Churchville, and a special sister that Joyce and her ex-husband, the late Fred "PeeWee" Whitesell with loving and unselfish hearts let her parents adopt, Patricia (Ken) Harvey, who was Joyce's caregiver. Joyce is survived by Jacob Brandon Harvey, special niece Glenna King, and her beloved cat "Little Gray". Joyce attended Staunton Church of Christ. She had worked at Western State Hospital, VSDB and Harry's Lunch. A special thanks to King's Daughters' Rehab and Dr. Todd Wolfe for their care with Joyce's courageous battle with brain cancer. To say Joyce was unique would be an understatement. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, in Staunton Church of Christ by the Rev. Barry Creasy. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. At Joyce's request wear casual clothes.
