STAUNTON, VA Joyce Joan (Cooke) O'Donnell, 83, widow of William Joseph O'Donnell, of 3003 Morris Mill Road, formerly of 201 Austin Ave., died Thursday, February 19, 2015, in her residence. She was born March 28, 1931, in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late Oscar Lee, Sr., and Esther Carle Cooke. Prior to retirement, Mrs. O'Donnell was employed as an Executive Secretary by Reo Distribution. She was an avid fan of U.Va. sports. A longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, in recent years Joyce had enjoyed attending Victory Worship Center with her daughter. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Lee Cooke, Jr.; and four sisters, Charlotte Deffenbaugh, Carolyn Raines, Margie Cooke, and Bernice Cooke. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, William Joseph, Jr., and Melanie O'Donnell of Crozet; a daughter and son-in-law, Celia and Eric Wade of Staunton; six grandchildren, Miles Joseph Wade and wife, Arantxa, Mary Scott Wade, Madison Leigh Wade, Abigail Grace Eanes, Rebecca Claire Eanes, and Maren Grey Eanes; a great grandson, Everett Lyle Wade; a number of nieces and nephews; close friends, Kim Smith, Sharon Driscoll, Reo Hatfield, and all of her special friends at Reo. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Michael Hevener. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jay O'Donnell, Rod O'Donnell, Mike O'Donnell, Jeff Deffenbaugh, Barry Munsey, and Brad Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Reo Hatfield and employees of Reo Distribution. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Adial Baptist Church Youth, 1090 Adial Road, Faber, VA 22938.
