Julia Boward

JULIA D. BOWARD STAUNTON, VA… Julia (Davis) Boward, 84, widow of Fred R. Boward, of 31 Woodlee Road, Baldwin Park, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 23, 2016. She was born February 8, 1932 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Alvin E. and Virginia (Obenschain) Davis. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Boward was employed by the Staunton City Public Schools. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She was also a volunteer and on the board of Staunton Augusta Church Relief Association (“SACRA”) for many years. She was a light to family and friends including her bridge club of 60 years. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Laura Boward of Fishersville and Steve and Melisa Boward of Staunton; a daughter, Martha Boward and spouse, Laurie Schumacher of Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Charlotte Davis of Christiansburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Marvin Skene of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Ben, Emily, Sarah, Morgan, Malachi and Liberty Boward; and many life-long friends from Staunton City Schools and her church. A memorial service will be conducted at 11a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Robert D. McCarty. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home.
