JUNE HARRIS STAUNTON, VA.. June Harris, 93, husband of Virginia (Simmons) Harris, of 414 Betsy Bell Road, died Friday, November 4, 2016, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.He was born June 20, 1923, in Vanderpool, a son of the late Henry and Julia (Crouse) Harris. Mr. Harris was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Wilson Trucking Company. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife of 71 years, family members include; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary June and Billy Johnson, Linda Sue and Scott Decker all of Staunton and Nancy Gail and Charlie Harrison of Broadway; a son and daughter-in-law, James Leon and Ann Harris of Staunton; two sisters, Daisy Curry, and Leta Carper; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a great, great grandchild; and a special nephew, Ona Lee “Dork” Crummett. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harding Harris and a sister, Elsie Hull A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Anderson. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Zach Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Brad Harris, Austin Harris, Darius Harris, Michael Harrison, Bryce Morris, Joshua Johnson, Jr. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
