Churchville, VA…   Jack Edward Lyke, 80, husband of Diane (Rusnak) Lyke, of Union Church Road, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Avante At Waynesboro. He was born on January 3, 1936 in Webster Springs, WV, a son of the late Earl and Ealon (Wilcox) Lyke. Mr. Lyke was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as an aviation electrician from 1953-1956. He served on the USS Yorktown and the USS WASP and was in the Fighter Squadron VF152. He retired from Ford Motor Company, Cleveland Casting Plant in Brookpark, OH. He was a member of the Stonewall Rifle and Pistol Club and the American Legion Post #13. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Penelope Smith of North Ridgeville, OH; a son, David Lyke of Lakewood, OH; two grandchildren, Paul Smith and wife, Heather, and Matthew Smith, both of Ohio; two great grandchildren; a special niece, Margaret Wilfong of Lexington; a special nephew, David Williams of Medina, OH, and a number of other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charley and Bobby Lyke, both of Cleveland, OH; and three sisters, Fay Williams of Rainelle, WV, Clara Wilfong of Staunton, and Catheren Murphy of Cleveland, OH. He is the last member of his immediate family. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Chaplain, Allison Jackson.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Daily Living Center, 990 E. Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro, VA 22980 or Legacy Hospice, 500 Faulconer Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dr. David Herring, the staff of Avante At Waynesboro and Legacy Hospice for their care and support of the family.
