Jackson Eutah Quick Jr.

Jackson Eutah Quick, Jr, 85, husband of Constance (Meyers) Quick died peacefully on Thursday, 8 September, 2022 at his residence at Baldwin Park in Staunton Va.

Jack was born in Augusta County on 20 February 1937, son of Jackson E. Quick, Sr. and Blanche Lorraine (Armentrout) Quick. He is survived by his wife Connie of 66 years and his siblings and their spouses: Bryan Quick and Ferral Kiser of Bridgewater, Roger Quick and Linda Furrow of Rockingham, Va, Lola Heffner of Verona, Va., Barbara Perrini and Frank of Blacksburg. Va. Mr. Quick is also survived by his grandchildren, J.E. Quick IV and Jessica Quick, both of Los Angeles, CA and his sister-in-law, Jean Towler of Staunton. Jack was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Shirley Crawford of Staunton, his parents and his much loved son Jackson Eutah Quick, III.

Jack was born at Quick’s Mill where his Dad ran the grist mill on the corner of Quick’s Mill Road and Berry Farm Road, helping with chores there. He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville where he played varsity football. Jack worked at Quick’s Ice Cream store before marrying Connie and enlisting in the National Guard. Jack’s work career was spent at Planters Bank in Staunton, retiring as Vice President in 1998. Throughout his professional career, Jack also drove the charter bus for Quick-Livick Bus Lines.

Prior to retirement from the bank, Jack and his brothers enjoyed many years of golfing, which led to his purchase of a condo at Pinehurst, NC, where Connie spent many summers and Jack had leisure time apart from banking. After retirement, he and Connie purchased a home there and Jack pursued his love of golf, spending most days on the golf course playing or working in the pro shop . As an avocation, Jack also pursued his love of wood-working at his home workshop, creating furniture for his family.

During his time in Staunton, Jack was an active member of Pleasant View Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served with Connie as Youth Leader of “Luther League” and was a regular member of the church choir. While in Pinehurst, he was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and volunteered packaging and delivering meals for the needy. Jack and Connie recently returned to Staunton and resumed membership at Pleasant View Lutheran.

Jack, his siblings and friends were very close, celebrating holidays, special family events, and annual beach vacations together. Connie wishes to extend thanks to Pleasant View Lutheran Church and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their support, with a special thanks to Christine Crawford, who assisted with Jack’s care during the final weeks of his illness.
