Jo Ann (Kiracofe) Kurtz, 88, of Robin Street, Staunton, passed away July 21, 2021, at Shenandoah Hospice House, Fishersville.
Jo Ann was born August 29, 1932, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Charles Walter and Margaret (Sanger) Kiracofe.
She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1950 and married her husband, Conrad (Connie) L. Kurtz on October 17, 1952. In 1953, Jo Ann and Connie moved to Staunton. She worked for the Staunton City Schools for 25 years.
Jo Ann was a 34 year member at Bethany Presbyterian Church before transferring to Covenant Presbyterian Church in 2001 to be closer to her family.
Jo Ann had a love for crafting and for many years made her own clothes. She always enjoyed family gatherings especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas which gave her the opportunity to cook and decorate for all to enjoy.
Surviving is her husband, Conrad L. Kurtz; a son and wife, C. Conrad and Heather Kurtz of Fayetteville, NC, a son and wife, Bradley and Anita Kurtz of Staunton, a son, Troy Kurtz of Staunton; 6 grandchildren and spouses, Alysia Kurtz, Kelsey (Kurtz) and Justin Smith, Courtney (Kurtz) and Matt Hajducky, Camden Kurtz, Kaitlin (Kurtz) and Ryan Godwin, Bryce Kurtz; a great grandchild, Sawyer Grey Smith; a dear friend and caregiver, Joyce Hale and dear friends, Ellen Mullins and Jackie Kurtz.
A private service will be held at Henry Funeral Home of Staunton. Please, no flowers. It is suggested those desiring to make a memorial gift to do so to the Staunton Augusta S.P.C.A.
