John Otto Isenhath Iii

John Otto Isenhath, III, of Churchville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at his residence.

He was born December 18, 1951, in Hackensack, New Jersey, a son of the late John Otto, Jr. and Eugenia (Lybarker) Isenhath.

He was an active and cherished member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was the parish sacristan and right-hand man of Father Joseph Wamala.

John attended Ohio State University for undergraduate school and received his PhD in Audiology and Speech Sciences from Union Institute. He was a business owner, author and patent holder. He opened his first practice, Advanced Hearing Care, in Staunton, VA in 1989 and created the program, ‘Auditory Aerobics’. In 1994 he opened a second office in Charlottesville. He was devoted to his dogs, Buffy and Ginger, and cat, Max; they are able to remain together in their new home.

He is survived by three sisters, Rebecca Cygan, Patricia Cecil, and Debbie Dyne (Chris)

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved brother, Donald Isenhath.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021, in Thornrose Cemetery.

A Mass for the celebration of John’s life will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 North New St, Staunton, VA 24401.
