John H. Lowe

John Hardin Lowe, 90, of Staunton died peacefully on April 28, 2021 with his wife Ginny at his side. Born July 1,1930 in Baltimore, MD, he was the only child of Dr. Claude Milton Lowe and Mildred Hardin Lowe.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jack was best known for his value of hard work and his love of the Chesapeake Bay. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Staunton, VA. Jack grew up during the depression and often recounted stories of summers spent in the country as a child with his 13 paternal Aunts and Uncles, all of whom were practicing Quakers. He attended Staunton Military Academy and graduated from the University of Maryland, where he met his future wife. They were married in 1956. Jack owned and operated Lowe's Tire Service in Staunton for 27 years. He was instrumental in the restoration of historic relics from Staunton Military Academy. He was a talented artist who produced unique welded sculptures.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Virginia Dean Lowe and his four children Sally Lowe Ashburn(Don), Stephen Campbell Lowe(Kristi), Samuel Hardin Lowe(Denise) and James Ross Lowe. In addition he leaves behind seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at Henry Funeral Home, 1030 West Beverly Street, Staunton, VA on May 8, 2021 at 1:00pm.

Memorials may be sent to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

The family will receive visitors from 2:30 - 6:00pm at 725 Opie Street.
