John P. Welcher
John Paul Welcher, 73, of Churchville died Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.
He was born January 28, 1948, in Staunton, a son of the late William Ladford and Bertie Lillian (Vest) Welcher.
He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1967.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Welcher was employed by Safeway with 33 years of service and Super Save in Weyers Cave with 14 years of service.
Family members include his wife, Sherry Ann Welcher; a daughter, Angie Casady and husband, Tim; two brothers, Charles Thomas Welcher and wife, Judy, and Jerry E. Welcher and wife, Judy; a special brother-in-law, Calvin D. Wolfe and wife, Jewell; two grandchildren, Courtney Shinaberry Cline and husband, Chase, and Justin Curtis Hause and wife, Bonnie; a great grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special dog, Lexie.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Edward Welcher and a sister, Dorothy Ann Welcher.
A private graveside service will be conducted in Thornrose Cemetery by Pastor Dennis Taylor.
Active pallbearers are Justin Hause, Timmy Casady, Roy Hiner, Doug Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, and Kenneth Hause.
Honorary pallbearers are Jason Wolfe, Aaron Wolfe, and Matthew Wolfe.
