KATHRYN T. HODGES STAUNTON, VA Kathryn (Thorn) Hodges, 86, wife of John L. Hodges, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1928, in Camden-on-Gauley, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Flossie (Butcher) Thorn. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Hodges was employed by ASR with 31 years of service. She was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church, the Staunton Senior Center, and AARP. In addition to her husband, family members include a son, John L. (Susan) Hodges, Jr. of Broadway; three daughters, Judy H. (Edward) Ramsey of Eau Claire, WI, Kathryn H. (Harry) Harner of Charles Town, WV, and Jayne H. (Dwayne) Tooley of Waynesboro; two brothers, Roy Lee Thorn of Zanesville, OH and Arthur C. Thorn, Jr. of Waynesboro; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Leonard Thorn, Ralph Thorn, Rolyen Thorn, and Leon Thorn; and six sisters, Delta Miller, Ruby Jarvis, Ruth Callaghan, Mildred Spilberger, Grace Thorn, and Violet Thorn; and grandson, Ian Hodges. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2014, at Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert W. Sharp. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Methodist Women of Marquis Memorial UMC and Benny Webb Bible Class. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August, 3, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Marquis Memorial UMC, 1614 W. Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
